Description: Three flowers on two inflorescences on one arching, leafless cane borne on a nine cane plant mounted on a 6.0 cm x 18.0 cm cork oak plaque; pseudobulbs cane like, arching to pendulous, deciduous, up to 57.5 cm long, many sectioned, up to 4.0 cm x 1.3 cm diameter, clavate, developing growths carry an up to 13.0-cm by up to 3.2-cm wide linear-lanceolate leaf with the base encasing each developing segment, glossy medium green; sepals white blushed pink distally, flared dark purple apically; petals white flared dark purple apically; lip encircling the column, white proximal two-thirds gold two large dark purple spots near base on each side of midvein, flared dark purple apically; substance medium; texture crystalline; recognized for its rarity in cultivation from the section Dendorbium; an under flowered representative of a beautiful Thai species; Dendrobium wardianum, award 20161942, has been confirmed to be Dendrobium wardianum by SITF (May 2016).
